How can I register for the Race?

There are four ways to register for the Komen Central Georgia Race for the Cure:

Online

Please register at http://www.komencentralga.org/.  Online is the most efficient and easy way for you to register.  Online registrations will be accepted through 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21.  Pre-registration is $25.  All packets must be picked up prior to the Race at Packet Pick-up or on Race Day.  We are not using chip timing this year.

By Mail

Paper registrations will also be accepted by mail if postmarked by Monday, October 18.  Pre-registration is $25. 

In Person

Pre-registration is $25.  On site registration is available at the following locations:

  • Saturday, October 16, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.  Kroger, 3094 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins
  • Sunday, October 17, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. - Kroger, Zebulon Road, Macon
  • Wednesday, October 20, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. - Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, Downtown Macon
  • Thursday, October 21, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. - Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, Downtown Macon
  • Friday, October 22, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. - Long Building, Central City Park, Macon

Race Day

Race registration will be located at Central City Park in the Long Building.  Registration will be open from 7 - 8:30 a.m.  Race Day registration is $30. 

Please note that packets will be NOT be mailed this year. All packets must be picked up at one of our packet pick up locations or on race day in the Long Building.

Parking

Please plan to arrive early! Parking is available at Central City Park on a first come, first served basis. The parking area directly south of the park (former DMV lot) is designated for breast cancer survivors. All other participants will be directed to park in the lots behind, and next to, Luther Williams Field.   Check our website for updates:  http://www.komencentralga.org/.

7 a.m. - 9 a.m. - Pink Ribbon Pancake Breakfast

8 a.m. - Kids for the Cure Festival

8:30 a.m. - Celebration Walk and Survivor Recognition

8:45 a.m. - Race Warm-up

9 a.m. - Co-ed 5K Run

9:05 a.m.. - Co-ed 5K Walk

10 a.m. - Awards Ceremony

8 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Pink Ribbon Plaza & Promise Shop

Will the Race be canceled if it rains on Race Day?

The Race will occur rain or shine.  We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances.  In that event there will be no refunds, rather, you entry fee will be used as a donation to the Susan G. Komen Central Georgia Race for the Cure. 

Are men allowed to participate in the Race?

Yes. Race for the Cure is a co-ed 5K Run/Walk.  Children are welcome to participate in either the 5K or in Kids for the Cure.  If children would like to participate in both events they must register for both events. 

Can I volunteer for the Race?

Absolutely!   New and returning volunteers are encouraged to get involved.  Race volunteers receive a t-shirt on Race Day as supplies last. For information about volunteer opportunities, please visit our website at www.komencentralga.org.

Do I have to collect donations to participate in the Race?

While you are not required to collect donations to participate in the Race, we encourage everyone to raise as much as you can to increase our contribution to the fight against breast cancer in Central Georgia and our surrounding counties.

What sizes do the Race T-shirts come in?

Race T-shirts are available in sizes Youth Medium, Youth Large, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, and XX-Large.  Kids for the Cure T-shirts are available in sizes X-Small, Small, Medium and Large.

Can I pick up my T-shirt on morning of the Race prior to racing?

Yes, t-shirts will be available for pickup after 7 a.m. the morning of the event. 

 If I miss the Race, will you mail me my T-shirt?

No, Race T-shirts cannot be mailed post-Race due to budgetary constraints.   

Where does the money go?

Up to seventy-five percent of the net proceeds from the Race will remain in Central Georgia to fund local breast cancer projects for the medically under served.  The remaining twenty-five percent supports the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund national research efforts. Click here to view our 2010-2011 Grantees.

What portion of my registration fee is tax deductible?

None.  The IRS does not allow deductions when you receive items of value for the registration fee.  Donations ARE tax deductible.

How are breast cancer survivors recognized?

Breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up their complimentary pink cap and pink t-shirt provided by Zeta Tau Alpha and RE/Max prior to Race Day at any packet pickup location or on Race Day in the Survivor Building.  Participants are also invited to recognize special people who have been touched by breast cancer.  "In Memory of" and "In Celebration of" back signs are available for all Race Participants.  A special ceremony recognizing breast cancer survivors will be held at 8:30 a.m.
