Race for the Cure Team Information

Forming a team is a fun and easy way to bring together friends, family, co-workers and employees!  Runners and/or walkers involved in corporations, agencies, organizations, families, schools, friends or any combination thereof can form a Team. 

Team Captain Meeting Schedule

Team Captain Meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the following dates:

Thursday, September 9      Peyton Anderson Health Education Building, Trice 9

Forming a Team is as Easy as 1, 2, 3...

Step 1 - Select a Team Captain and Team Name  
Pick out a fun name and a person to start the process and away you go!    

Step 2 - Begin the Registration Process
The easiest way to become a team is to have the Team Captain register the team online.   Here are the steps:

 

To Form a Team Online (For Team Captains)

1. Click on Form a Team

 (When you form a team you will automatically be designated as the Team Captain)

Enter your Team Name

Enter your Team Company, if applicable

Enter your Team Division or Category (open, corporate, school, etc.)

Set a fundraising goal for your team (optional)

 Click on Next Step

2. Select a Participation Type

Click on Next Step

3. Contact Information

Provide your contact information, event in which you are participating (5K run/walk or Celebration Walk), T-shirt size, etc.

Click on Next Step

4. Legal Notice

Please read waiver and check “I agree…”

Click on Next Step

5. Credit Card Information

This is a secure website and your privacy is guaranteed

Click on Next Step

6. Confirm Transaction

Review all of the information you have provided to make sure it is correct.

You will receive confirmation that your team has been created and your registration is complete. 

7. Notify your team members of your team name so they can register online as well.

 

To Join a Team Online (For Team Members)

1. Go to www.KomenCentralGA.org

2. Click on Race for the Cure

3. Click on Join an Existing Team

1.    Enter team name and/or click on Search for a Team

2.    Find the Team Name and click on Join  (to the far right of the team name)

3.    Follow steps above

 

To Manage an Online Team

1.    When new team members sign up, you will receive an email

2.    Your Team roster is down loadable at any time from your web page

3.    Review your progress in fundraising and send information to your team by updating your web page

4.    Print out your roster to take with you the day of the Race

 

To start a Team without utilizing the online registration capability

A pdf file of the 2010 Race for the Cure application will be available in September. Please call our office at 478-390-4828 to request a paper application.

Step 3 - Start Recruiting Team Members and Encouraging Fundraising
The Komen Central Georgia Affiliate encourages team captains to set goals for team member recruitment and fundraising. 

If everyone that registered for the Race raised $100, then more than $300,000 would be raised to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.  Challenge your team members to raise at least $100 to help us eradicate breast cancer

  • For those who register by mail, forms must be postmarked by October 18, 2010.
  • Last minute registrations are accepted online and on site until 5 p.m on Thursday, October 21, 2010.
  • Add-ons to your team can be taken on Race Day, however only those registered by October 21, 2010 will be counted towards the team total.

 

Team Awards

Awards will be given for:

  • "LARGEST TEAMS" AWARD
    • (one awarded in each category below)
    • Corporate: 1,000 or more local employees
    • Corporate: 10- 1,000 local employees
    • Family / Friends Generated
    • School - K-12
    • School - Colleges / Universities
    • Community Groups / Churches
  • "MOST MONEY RAISED" AWARD
    • Awarded to the top 3 teams that raise the most money
  • "PRETTY IN PINK" AWARD
    • Awarded to the team with the greatest number of survivors
  • "ROOKIE OF THE YEAR" AWARD
    • Awarded to the largest NEW team
  • "GROW GETTERS" AWARD
    • Awarded to the team with the greatest percentage increase in money raised

Compete in our 3rd Annual Race for the Cure Team T-shirt Competition:

Team T-shirts will be displayed on Thursday, October 21 and Friday, October 22 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during Registration at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and Central City Park. T-shirts will also be displayed on Race morning- Saturday, October 23, 2010, 7:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. at the Special Team Tent in the Expo area! Judging will occur during all 3 days.

REMINDERS/GUIDELINES FOR SHIRTS:

  • Use of the Komen Race for the Cure logo or Affiliate logo is not permitted
  • NO PINK SHIRTS- reserved for survivors only
  • Shirts become the property of the Central Georgia Race and cannot be returned
  • Encourage your team members to wear your team t-shirts on Race day!

DEADLINE: Shirts and entry forms must be submitted NO LATER than Wednesday, October 20, 2010 by 4:00 p.m.
